Aim of the course
The course aims to provide students with an introduction to e-commerce and the changing role of e-commerce in business, entry level skills and knowledge to develop web pages, the skills to conduct Internet marketing and to plan and understand e-commerce business strategies and an understanding of business, legal, ethics and technological issues in the field of electronic commerce.
Entry Requirements
- IELTS 5.5;
- National Certificate or Diploma, Level 4; or
- Have relevant work experience in the IT industry or other business; or
- Students can satisfy the Principal/Director of Studies that they are proficient in English language
Basic computer skills are required for all students, which include:
- Using a PC
- Using the Internet
- Using word processing
- Using the MS Windows operating system
Other Information
The CIC Diploma in eCommerce (Level 5) is a nationally registered qualification, which has been approved by the NZ Qualifications Authority. It is a full time 38 weeks course, completed over 2 semesters of 19 weeks each. Student work is assessed by means of tests, research assignments and team based project work. Much student work involves applying course concepts in actual business case-studies.

This qualification (Level 5) equips students with a range of knowledge and skills related to e-Commerce. It draws together information systems and communication technology, marketing and other business disciplines. It provides students with skills and knowledge to develop web pages, to conduct Internet marketing and to plan and understand e-commerce business strategies. It also challenges and prepares students for future academic study in other tertiary learning programmes at New Zealand tertiary institutions.
