Diploma in Marketing, Level 7
Course Information
On completion of the Diploma in Marketing, Level 7, students will be able to demonstrate high-level knowledge of and skills in marketing that will allow them to competently and independently engage in a range of marketing activities demonstrating intellectual independence, analytic rigour and the ability to understand and evaluate new knowledge and ideas.
National Diploma in Tourism, Level 5
Course Information
The National Diploma in Tourism (Level 5) is a nationally registered qualification, which has been approved by the NZ Qualifications Authority.
It is for people working in, or aspiring to, with roles involving supervisory and/or business management responsibilities in the tourism industry.
Student work is assessed by means of tests, research assignments and team based project work. Much of the student work involves applying course concepts in actual tourism case-studies
National Diploma in Business, Level 6

It is a full time 38 weeks course, completed over 2 semesters of 19 weeks each. Student work is assessed by means of tests, research assignments and team based project work. Much student work involves applying course concepts in actual business case studies.

Diploma in eCommerce, Level 5
Aim of the course
The course aims to provide students with an introduction to e-commerce and the changing role of e-commerce in business, entry level skills and knowledge to develop web pages, the skills to conduct Internet marketing and to plan and understand e-commerce business strategies and an understanding of business, legal, ethics and technological issues in the field of electronic commerce.
National Cert in Business, Level 4
Course Information
The Certificate in Business (Introductory) is a Level 4 entry level qualification for people seeking a career in business or for those wanting to learn more about business operations. This Certificate is also useful for students whose level of English is insufficient to enter the Diploma in Business directly. It can also be used to satisfy the entry requirements for the NCEA Level 3: University Entrance course.
NCEA Level 3 - University Entrance
Programme
Students will need to successfully complete the full CIC programme to be assured of gaining entry into university and to their desired courses. Students will need to do a total of five subjects, three compulsory and two of their own choice.
NCEA Level 2 - Academic
Programme
The Year 12 Programme at CIC is a preparatory course, designed to develop individual students' English language needs and to prepare them academically for their NCEA Level 3 University Entrance year. At this level, it is most important that students have mastered the basic English language and then to develop their academic English - in the context of the subjects they want to study for the University Entrance year.
IELTS Preparation
Course Information
IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is widely recognised as the main language requirement for further and higher education. It is the chosen language test for many universities in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. It is also often required in application for migration to New Zealand. At present, an IELTS score of 6.0 is the required minimum entry-level score for undergraduate courses at universities and at institutes of technology in New Zealand.
English Language
General English
Before international students begin academic study in New Zealand, they are strongly advised to undertake 3 - 6 months of intensive English Language studies at our College. Shortly after arrival in Christchurch, our students are given a week-long orientation programme and tested to ascertain their English language proficiency.
