Short-term English language student enrolments up
According to the English Language Providers survey, there were 41,798 international students enrolled in English language schools in the year ended March 2010, Statistics New Zealand said today.

The number of fee-paying international students in New Zealand increased by 7 per cent in the first four months of the year compared to the same period last year, Tertiary Education Minister Steven Joyce said.
Two arrests for fraud over student applications
The processing of applications for international students to study at a private Auckland institute has been suspended after the arrest of two men for alleged immigration fraud, Immigration New Zealand said today. As well, some approved applications for the Kingsland Institute were being reviewed, Immigration head Nigel Bickle said.
NZ Among Most “Connected” Nations
New Zealand was ranked at 10th place in the world 2010 "digital economy rankings" compiled by the Economist's Intelligence Unit. The British magazine's annual survey of 70 nations was until this year known as the "e-readiness" rankings.
Foreign Student Numbers Rising in New Zealand
The number of foreign students studying in New Zealand has risen for the first time in six years, making a turnaround for the countries international student population. Figure released by Education New Zealand shows 93,500 foreign students studied in the country last year, compared to 88,470 in the previous year.
Lincoln University revokes Fujimori's honorary degree
Lincoln University has revoked an honorary degree awarded to a former Peruvian president who was last year jailed for ordering two massacres and committing other human rights crimes. Lincoln vice- chancellor Roger Field said the decision to revoke Alberto Fujimori's science doctorate was met by a round of applause from staff during a regular campus update today.
